I combined Mikki's Arianne bangle with Nancy's Trellis Necklace and I love the way these two patterns work together!
If you'd like to make your own version of this bracelet, here is a rundown of what I did to combine these two tutorials into a new bangle. First off, of course, you'll need copies of these tutorials; if you don't have them yet, you can purchase them by clicking on the links above. To the materials list, I added (4) small lampwork beads (approx. 6x9mm) and a piece of memory wire to use as an armature.
- The first thing you'll need to do is decide how many repeats of the design you want; I chose four. Begin with the Arianne Bangle; I used 36 B beads and 8 A beads in rows 1 & 2 to make a fairly large bangle (inside diameter of 7.25cm); if your wrist is larger or smaller, add or subtract beads, but make sure that both numbers are divisible by 4.
- After that, I simply followed the Arianne pattern for the textured bangle, making allowances for the changes I made in the first rows.
- On the long edges, I added picots using (3)15° beads after the crystal just to dress things up a bit.
- Cut a piece of memory wire about an inch longer than the outside of the Arianne bangle and work the core of the Trellis pattern over it. (The ends of the wire will "double up" inside the core to make a circle; join the ends of the core section together to keep the memory wire ends inside.)
- I used lampwork beads in place of the large crystals; lay the core section plus one bead against Arianne to determine how many rows you need in the core. It's going to be different for each bracelet, depending on your beads and your weaving tension.
- Work the embellishments from the bead towards the center, stopping just before the center. I eliminated steps 3-4. It's okay if you end up with an unembellished bit in the center; Arianne will cover that.
- Place the Trellis section inside of Arianne and join the segments.
Voila! Arianne Climbs the Trellis.
